Cargo Container Fumigation in Dubai

What is cargo container fumigation?

Fumigation uses a gas to kill insects and other pests hidden inside a sealed container, including those inside timber, packaging and the goods themselves. Untreated cargo can carry pests that lead to contamination, delays and rejection at the border, which is why many destinations require fumigation before shipment.

What can we fumigate?

• 20 ft and 40 ft shipping containers
• Wooden pallets and packaging (ISPM 15)
• Food products, grains, spices and raw materials
• Machinery, fabrics and commercial goods
• Bulk and loose cargo

How does the fumigation process work?

1. Inspection and risk assessment. We assess the cargo and choose the fumigation method that suits it.
2. Application of approved fumigants. Government-approved fumigants such as methyl bromide or phosphine are applied in measured doses.
3. Sealing and monitoring. The container is sealed and monitored for the full exposure period.
4. Airing and certification. The container is ventilated, and a Fumigation Certificate is issued for customs clearance and shipping.

When is fumigation required?

• Exporting to countries with strict pest regulations
• Shipping wooden packaging material under the ISPM 15 rule
• Cargo that is contaminated or infested
• Cargo held at port because of a pest issue
• Preventive treatment before warehouse storage
